Recently got back into the game because for some reason I never realized the survival update had been released, and an old pet peeve came back almost instantly: Why does power armor, something that canonically shakes off pretty much anything lower than explosives and sustained minigun fire, feel like it's made of wet tissue paper.

    Fallout 4 Overhaul Mod

Like both legs getting knocked offline from an anti-personnel mine.So my question is, are there any mods/overhauls nowadays that(preferably works with all the dlc) makes them both terrifying to face and amazing to use?. ?Some assembly required, amazing mod it makes high quality power armor rare and hard to maintain, also buffs durability. Makes power armor feel rare and powerful.?PMAP adds more customization options as well as materials with massive stat buffs (expensive though) ZephyrWarrior's mod might be better not sure though haven't used it.?Changes the PA frame str bonus, vanilla just sets str to 11 this changes it so it adds points to your base str, good for higher str characters. For extra fun:?I tried better power armor I didn't like it at all, it made PA feel way too OP for both myself and enemies. Just FYI, Power Armor is not designed as a walking tank. The original PA concepts were designed to make regular soldiers able to carry heavy ordnance all the time.

Gatling Lasers, Fat Men, Miniguns, Plasma Casters, you name it. All those are too heavy or bulky to wield without PA.The suit getting armor plates was a logical consequence but they were not meant to soak up regular bullets or even explosions. If you're still hellbent on making the PA lore-unfriendly, Better Power Armor does pretty much exactly what you want.

Makes the game far too easy though. Pretty much every fallout has broken or rewritten lore in some way after the firstI do think that started with FO3, paused with FNV, and continued with FO4. Can't remember anything in FO2 contradicting FO1 for example. But that was some ten years ago, so I might be wrong. That's fine if you do it for gameplay reasons actually - the FC mechanic was meant to balance Power Armor usage and, while it failed (because cores are not rare at all), it is a lore violation that's not really problematic. Creating a completely new set of Power Armor that never existed in the universe and shoehorning it in there like 'Oh yeah, everybody else just forgot to mention that prototype' wasn't even elegant though, more like a huge 'fuck you' to lore nerds. I mean, we already had a prototype sort of model with the APA/X01.

The FO universe doesn't really work like Final Fantasy.Anyway, making PA a walking tank is bad gameplay design if you don't make repairing much more costly. I'm talking like 100 Steel, 25 Ceramic, 15 Screws, 10 Adhesive, 10 Nuclear Material to repair an arm, plus Armorer 3 and Science 1 as perk reqs. FC drain does not balance PA well. Dunno, in FO1 T51 has an AC bonus of 25 (normal) DT 12, and 40 DR.

The assault rifle does 8-16 damage per shot AC gives a 25 chance to deflect the bullet for no damage, assuming the shot gets through and rolls for 16 it would then hit DT reducing it to 4 damage. 40 DR then kicks in and the final damage is 3.That's worst case, assuming an 8 round burst 2 rounds are deflected by AC, I'll roll 6 random numbers, 16 13 16 8 9 8 Those hit DT and DR so final damage for an 8 round burst is 3+1+3+0+0+0= 7 a paladin in game has around 85 health so 7 damage really isn't much i would call that fairly tanky. I think they do talk about this actually, but if you look at the physical model for PA in FO4, it doesn't make any sense that they would be impervious to damage because there are so many weakspots.I think of the constant small damage from weak weapons as representative of how many hits are being defeated by the armour, and how many either penetrate or hit unprotected parts of the body (this applies to any armour, not just PA). A simplification that, while not as satisfying, achieves approximately the same outcome in a more reliable and less performance hungry manner.
